Musics Inspired Me!

Hello world! As you all know my name is Soliday! I like to sing and find out new songs when I’m free. Before I know english songs I really liked to listen to Korean songs (pop songs). Now I know a lot of english and I really like to sing english songs. First time I sing english songs my pronunciation is so bad and sometimes I don’t know what the words or the meaning means. I really like pop songs at first but now I like to sings all of the songs. The first song that I know is “The day you went away”, which is not my favorite. But now my favorite song is “lean on”.

Sometimes my mother blame me because when I’m free I’m not helping, but instead I sing a song.

Whenever I listen to any songs I feel like I’m at heaven. Some music is really interesting and it’s really connected to () background of the songs. I don’t know how to play musics, but I do know how () match my voice and the songs to different kinds of musics.

Talking about singing english songs but really, I’m not American, I’m Cambodian. So I also sing my country’s songs too! Mostly I don’t like Cambodian pop songs, I like to listen and sing Cambodian traditional songs. The reason I said traditional songs (is) because I don’t want the old songs from the sanctuary to () lost. I want my country to listen and sing those old song back. For real, the songs now are popular only () a couple of month and then it () not popular anymore, but for Cambodian old songs it last a long time and () not boring.

My voice is not that good as a famous singer. Honestly, I want my voice to be like the famous singer. But it’s not that easy to do because we have our own voice and we should use them as your voice to show that it’s you.

I would love to learn more about singing and different songs using different voice.

Khmer Interior Design

In this exploration, I’ve learn about interior design. This exploration is special because this is a “chose your own exploration”. We choose this topics because we want to learn about interior design, although we thought being an interior designer is fun and easy. Another reason is my sister in law is an interior designer so I can contact her and ask her question.

We also have the greatest opportunity ever because Liger has a construction going on, so we ask Dom (country director) to design that apartment. Our group has divide into three groups, kitchen and living room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. I was working on bathroom with my partner, Menghouth. We were working so hard to get everything done. We’ve been shopping for furniture, light, and others.

Being interior designer is not easy. Everyone that doesn’t know about interior design always said “interior design is super easy. If you have money you can just go buy furniture and put it in your house”. We’ve been doing this for 7 weeks and we found out that it’s not as easy as we think.

We also having fun while we doing this.

Minister Day

On January 12th of 2016, Liger has made a history. The minister of education has invited all the high level educator to come to Liger and see what we doing here and see our school curriculum. It’s was amazing because all the students try all their best to show the educator that this is who we are and what have we learn. I was so nervous at the first because I’m the translator for the class but then I realize I should not be nervous because this is the only day that I can show those educator. Those educator are much higher people that the other. Some of them come from ministry and some of them are director. I’m really proud of myself. I think I did really well. I also see a lot of those educator put a smile on their face when they arrive here. I hope there’s will be another day like this and I hope I can do better than before.

Hidden Voices Description

Name: Hidden Voices

In this exploration, we are studying about songs that are endangered, that Cambodian never heard it before. So to find the songs that are endangered we been to 2 provinces to interview people from difference places. We been to Kampong Speu and Mondulkiri. We not just went outside to interview people, but we also interview people by calling them and asking about there favorite songs and so on.

In class we been studying about Podcasting. We also made a podcast that talk about our Hidden Voices group. To make this podcast, we been working really hard to edit, writing script and so on.
I was working on editing too, and it was not that easy to do. The program that we use to edit the podcast is Audacity.

I go to unusual school

In my literacy class with my teacher Jan, he to me to write ” I go to unusual school” .
Here was what I wrote!

Class: English Literacy

I go to an unusual school. My school is called Liger Learning Center (LLC). There are 50 students at my school. There are a lot of subjects such as expertise, math, literacy, STEM, and exploration. One of those subject is different than other. It is exploration. Exploration is projects to study new things and explore outside of class. This project last for seven weeks and there are different subjects in each classes.
Why is Liger an unusual school? This school is different from goverment schools,because the style of learning is different and the subjects are different. When went to a goverment school, I never got a chance to explore outside, but Liger give us an opportunity to study and explore outside of the school such as, Singapore and different provinces in Cambodia. I am so excited to get to study here at Liger Learning Center.

I am 13 years old
There are seven people in my family.
I hate most of the reptiles .
I love to research and I love reading and writing.
Now, studying is the most important thing for me to focus on.
But I never forget my family because they are my energy and my everything.
I love everyone around me. I will be strong and powerful in
the future because I am Soliday.

How I Changed Cambodia 2014-2015

When I started to learn at Liger Learning Center I feel like my country have a lot of problem. For example: Rubbish, Education, Money, Economic and so on. Now Cambodia is a developed country but have some problem that the ministry not thinking about. How ever Cambodia have beautiful city (Phnom Penh) and Angkor Wat which is one of the famous temple in Cambodia.

The problem that I really worried is education, especially the rural people. Cambodia don’t really have a good education which is why there are so many people don’t have a good job, communicate, living and so on. Not just all of those reason there are such of many reason that make Cambodia got poor. Some of the kids not allow to go to school because of their parents. Why would any parent not allow their kids to go to school? Well, there are abundant of reasons that the parent not allow their kids to go to study. One of the main reason of all is money. Every people in the world need money. Money is just a piece of paper but it have a lot powerfull which is why everyone need it. Some of the family don’t have ability to send their kids to go to school, but they still wanted their kids to go to school to have a better future. Other family do not want their kids to go to school at all because they want the kids to work and get money for them. That so sad for those kids that didn’t have the chance to go to school. How ever this still happen every day that is why I want to change Cambodia!!!

There are many solution that the ministry of the education can do, but they couldn’t make it happens because there are abundant of education problem spreading around Cambodia, especially rural village. Well, one of my idea for trying to change the education in Cambodia for now is study. For now I can’t do anything for Cambodia because I am too little to solve the problem, but I only have an idea. My idea is to create an organization that working with parents of the kids and explain them how important is education and how powerful education can make our country get poor. I know that there are many organization that trying to help education in Cambodia and it not work. Although This is just my idea. Maybe in the future the education in Cambodia will increase.
For now I can change my country by Liger Learning Center.

Liger Learning Center is the international school that help me. When the first time I come to Liger I was really proud of myself that I can come to learn in Liger. In Liger I have learn many cool things that I haven’t study in goverment school. There are so many subject (ex:literacy, math, and exploration) that Liger has invented for student to study. Liger goal is want student to develope Cambodia. For now I can change Cambodia by Liger. Why Liger? Like I said, Liger have many subject for students to learn and one of the subject that can change Cambodia is Exploration. We learn Exploration for 2 hours per day. There are so many Exploration that we have learn (ex: Animal, Economics, Entrepenur) and it really help us to learn new thing. For example animal guide is going to make a book about the animal in Cambodia and it really help people because they can study from the book and learn about the animal in Cambodia.

Entrepreneurship Description

What I learn is
– How to start a business
– What is the big challege in business: The challenge for me is hard to contact with other people and          think about the new product that we could make.
– How do we work in team
– Being brave with talking and contact with other business man.
The term that I think it important is
– Resilience: I chosse this term because it the most important term and I want my self to be working        never stop keep trying and trying all the time. This is the most favarite term for me.
– Adaptable: I choose this term because it always help me to be chaging everything bad around me.         Example: Hongly is the member in my team and he always make me really angry but i need to be           adptable of him.
– Proactive: This one is important too! because In business I need to be work and work and don’t wait     for something to come to me.
– Validation: I chosse this one because, When I sell my product I need to validat my product to the           custumer.
– Iteration: This term is important for me because in my team we change a lot of product and we also       learn the mistake from the old product. That why I chosse this.
– Intergrity: I chosse this one because in business we need to be intergirty. Example. You are a               business man and you lie your customer that your product is so good. But the truth is your product is       bad and it not work.

If I have another entrepreneurship I will still continue my product because I like it.
I will change the new design so it can bend and easy to use. The team I think I
chosse the same team. I will sell it by contact some more people like business
man.
My group made a tablet stand, which is really helpful.

Liger TV Station Description

Name of Course: Liger TV Station

Learning Facilitator:  Sophorn

Dates: May 15-June 17

Course Description: In our Exploration class we have learned about plastics and also we learned how to become TV reporters. We also had a lot of trips because we wanted to know more information about plastics. For example we went to BKKM (Boeung Keng Kong Market), City mall, Cintri and the Ministry of Environment. The reasons why we went on the trips were because we wanted to know how the people use the plastics each day. We wanted to compare which market uses a lot of plastics. When we went on the trip we also interviewed the sellers and the buyers about the plastics. The questions that we asked them were important for us and they also told us a lot of information that they knew. When we went to the Cintri we can know how they work. Cintri has one important idea like how to help the environment. They told us that if we wanted the people to follow us like they use less plastics it needs to start from you. Then when they see us do that they will do too. In class we also learned about plastics and we made the TV channel about plastic so other people can know how bad the plastics are and the problems to the environment and animals, when there are plastics a lot. So our group did the presentation to the people in the community that is near our school. Some people they nearly cry because they know about it and never hear the children can know a lot of information about plastics. When we were in class we divided it in the groups, some people wrote the reflection when we came back from the trip and put it in the blog and some people edited the video. Some time when we went to trip like go to BKKM we went with other groups that learn about plastics, so can share our ideas and some people they can get new ideas.
